About

  1. 'Zephrine Drouhin' rose swag, two years old then. Assorted kinds of Foxgloves in the raised bed. 'Excelsior' , 'Candy Mountain' and 'Creme Cafe'

I love to garden or piddling as I call it, piddling with perennials, annuals, roses, vines and shrubs. And I really enjoy writing about it. I write funny little stories about gardening mostly but sometimes I like to write about small town life too. My little stories about are about the joys, the sorrows, the ups, the downs and the absurdities that happened to my wife and I on our gardening journey. I write about our successes and our NOT so successful experiences with shopping for, planting, nurturing, watering, deadheading, moving, shovel pruning (retiring plants that misbehave), pruning, propagating and sometimes killing deader than a doornail, PLANTS…:-) I read onetime that if you never killed a plant, then you never tried gardening, truer words were never spoken…

  2. In the summer of 2008 I wrote a little story every day for awhile and then took a little hiatus, a hiatus for about 3 years…:-) I started writing again this spring, a story about everyday or so. All of my little stories are in my archives. I hope you have a chance to read a few, folks are so busy today and if you don’t have time I sure understand but if you do get a chance, I sure hope you enjoy them and I hope they bring a smile to your face…..I’ve tried to make it easy for you to read them if you’re a mind to. I got enough buttons and logos and ways to follow me and my little stories, that I hardly have enough room for the my little stories anymore……:-)
  3. I’m a 3 time throat cancer survivor, I lost my vocal chords to cancer in 2000 and now talk now with an electronic device called a “servox”. Since I lost my vocal cords I haven’t shut up, just ask my wife……:) I’m married to a wonderful woman, Linda Hux Daniels and we live in a nice small town, Piedmont, Alabama. I have a step son, daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren, the cutest, sweetest little girls that live in Tennessee near the Smoky Mountains. I’m retired now and spend most of my time gardening or writing about it. I graduated from Piedmont High School in 1967 and have two years of college. Like some folks in the 60’s I threw my education away, well my formal one anyways. I lived in Israel for 6 years and Atlanta for about 20 years, where I worked as a salesman selling synthetic lubricants for high speed machines, like the carpet industry in North Georgia. LIke I said I retired in 2000 when I lost my vocal cords to throat cancer, the market for salesmen who can’t “talk” being pretty small and getting smaller all the time I took early retirement. I’ve been cancer free for 11 years now and I credit that to good doctors, gardening and a wonderful wife, not necessarily in that order my Angel (my wife Linda)……..:) I have other interests besides gardening like archaeology and ancient history of the Middle East, good movies, travel, hiking, cooking with my wife, reading good books, the news, local, national and international. I like to know what is happening in the world but I seem to have only control over what happens in my garden and given droughts, storms, tornados, hurricanes, diseases and little critters, I don’t have that much control over it sometimes…..:-)
  4. I find life fun, interesting and challenging. I consider myself lucky in that I have a wonderful life and a wonderful wife and she’s just wonderful in every way. That’s about it about me or us or well Linda and me. Well mostly……:)
